The project was managed fluidly
The Mobile Data Association is the global association for vendors and users of mobile data and also the forum for the mobile data industry incorporating Vodafone, O2, Orange & T-Mobile. Text. It, a subsidiary of the MDA is the online UK Authority on Mobile Content such as SMS, WAP and Mobile Internet.
To re brand and re launch Phase 6 of the Text.it website. A comprehensive and easy to use content management system with intuitive updates was required to reinforce the site’s position as the UK Authority. Focuses on the navigation in the varying segments of the business was required in addition to protected areas for members of the press to access monthly reports and receive automatic email notifications. Accessibility for Mobile Phone users was also imperative given the sites proposition.
The incumbent previous suppliers had built Phase 5 and had serviced the account for 3 years however it was decided that a more personal and bespoke approach was required to take the site forward. Ricemedia discussed the current situation and then looked at exactly what was required by the new site. Key features were identified which included breaking down the navigation into a user friendly interface while allowing the site to intuitively put other relevant information to the page. A comprehensive content management system with tiered access and administration was built that could be maintained from any PC with an internet connection, and an e-notification system was integrated to ensure that press subscribers and MDA members would receive updates and press releases from the site.
The immediate result of the new site is time saving on content management. Simple Updates that used to take 1 Hour, now take approximately 2 minutes, resulting in an immense time saving of 3000%. Paper Reports that were previously submitted to the MDA Board are now auto generated and created from the site and once published are viewed within the closed members area. The tiered login members area also means that the content visible is dependent on the login permissions e.g. an SMS Manager from Vodafone will only see SMS Reports & Statistics while a WAP Manager from Orange will only see WAP Content. The new site also decides on the site format for the user dependent on their browser. The main right hand navigation appears on the left with mobile phone browsers.
We chose Ricemedia because of their ability to help us conceive our online goals and suggest a strategy that would achieve this. The new site not only adds credibility to all of the work that we do, but also has more content that ever before. The reason for this is simple, its ease of use. The backend system that was built for us now means that we can update it as and when we like. It works out where to put the content within the site so that we do not have to. The project was managed fluidly and to the timescales that we laid down and I would have no reservations whatsoever about recommending Ricemedia for design and web development and in fact am very pleased to be working on our next project with them.
